ASTRA line HPLC Columns

ASTRA® is a versatile family of HPLC columns developed and manufactured in the Czech Republic by Chromservis. ASTRA® pairs high-quality, ultra-pure silica with modern bonding chemistries, giving you an alternative to many widely used general-purpose HPLC columns, plus phases with selectivity you won’t find elsewhere. In Israel, ASTRA® columns are supplied by Bargal with local application support.

Applications

ASTRA® columns are used in routine QC and research labs across many industries. Examples from Chromservis application work include:

  • Pharma & QC: APIs and related compounds (e.g. beta blockers on C18-HE), sugars in infusion solutions, and sorbitol testing according to the Ph. Eur. monograph on ASTRA® Sugar Ca(S).
  • Clinical & bioanalysis: LC-MS/MS pharmacokinetic assays in plasma, such as drug glucuronides, with stable peak areas over 200+ injections.
  • Environmental: LC-HRMS determination of 14 long-chain PFAS compounds in fish tissue on ASTRA® C18-HE.
  • Food & beverage: steviol glycosides in sweeteners; sucrose, glucose and fructose in tomatoes and ketchup; and aromatic amines with good peak symmetry on C18-BDS.

About the ASTRA HPLC columns line

ASTRA® complements the Chromservis ARION® and CHROMSHELL® column families. Alongside classic high-endcapped C18 and C8 chemistries, the line includes base-deactivated (BDS) phases, a C18-AQ phase for fully aqueous mobile phases, and the unique DM phase with a polar embedded group for complementary selectivity. Polymer-based ASTRA® Sugar columns round out the range for carbohydrate analysis.

  • Ultra-pure, uniform particles. Metal content below 10 ppm and near-perfect sphericity (0.97). Every batch is checked by SEM: no broken particles, robust under high pressure.
  • High surface area & endcapping. 330 m²/g surface area (170 m²/g for BDS phases) with highly effective endcapping for strong retention and good peak shape.
  • Unique modern phases. Dual-modified DM and dual-chemistry C18-AQ phases offer selectivity that complements standard C18 when you need a different separation.
  • Lot-to-lot consistency. Continuous particle characterization helps keep results consistent from column to column and batch to batch.
